U.S. researchers overcome the difficulty of rechargeable magnesium batteries

Scientists at the US Department of Energy's Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) have developed a new method for manufacturing rechargeable anhydrous magnesium batteries.

A recent paper published in Nature Chemistry caused a sensation. The paper elaborated on the scientists' development of the process of magnesium reversible chemical reactions in non-corrosive carbon-based electrolytes, and the process passed the following tests. Compared to lithium-ion batteries, this technology has more potential advantages - the biggest advantage is that it has a higher energy density, greater stability and lower cost.
